The legendary Nimrod was known in the Bible as “the mighty hunter”. (Perhaps my interest in him stems from having owned a horse by the same name). His grandfather was Noah’s son Ham, who was cursed by Noah after the worldwide flood. If you’ll recall, when Adam and Eve realized and became ashamed of their nakedness, God made them garments to wear; these were passed down to Noah. Ham pilfered them and passed them along to his son Cush who gave them to his son Nimrod. These made him so powerful that he was considered invincible as long as he wore those garments. He became the first world ruler.
